This working paper uses the October 1994 Current Population Survey (CPS) and the 1996 and 1999 National Household Education Survey to estimate how many children are home-schooled in the United States and predict future growth. The report gives demographic characteristics of those who home school, and while it determines that the numbers of home schoolled students are smaller than earlier studies estimated, the trend is still significant.
