The National Security Archive (NSA) released another electronic briefing book during June 2001. The thirteen documents available here let readers glimpse US government perceptions of political events in 1989 China. Two years ago, the NSA released Tiananmen Square, 1989: The Declassified History (see the
June 11, 1999 Scout Report), and since then, they have discovered these additional documents, among which are CIA reports and cables from the US embassy in China issued during the months preceding and immediately after the June 1989 demonstration.
