National Center for Education Statistics: The Nation's Report Card Reading 2000

On April 6, 2001, two important educational assessment reports were issued, both based on data collected by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The first of these focuses on the reading skills of fourth-graders and finds that the gap between the highest and lowest performing students has widened over the past eight years. Users may access the data and report contents in a number of forms, including an executive summary, highlights report, fact sheets, charts and tables, and as a Power Point presentation.
