The National Climatic Data Center recently released these data as part of its ongoing monthly series of reports on climate in historical perspective. Extreme events of January 2001 included ice storms in the southeastern US, heavy rains and flooding in Bolivia, and record snowfall and low temperatures (down to -37 degrees Celsius) in North Korea. The main page gives a map showing blended global satellite and in-situ temperature readings. Regional reports include regional temperature, wind pattern and precipitation maps, along with charts and graphs of temperature, precipitation, and tropospheric anomalies.
