Not in order of importance, these challenges are Biogeochemical Cycles, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning, Climate Variability, Hydrologic Forecasting, Infectious Disease and the Environment, Institutions and Resource Use, Land-Use Dynamics, and Reinventing the Use of Materials.
