An online photo gallery from the Los Angeles Public Library, Los Angeles at Work is a collection of captioned photographs documenting different jobs held by the men and women of LA from 1920 to 1939. The photographs were chosen from an archive of thousands of pictures taken by the staff of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. The pithy captions describe the circumstances of the photos, highlight some of the details, and give the dates and locations of the photos. Click on the thumbnails of the pictures in order to enlarge them.
