The Hindu spring festival of Holi is often referred to as “the festival of colors” and “the festival of love.” Celebrations begin with a bonfire celebrating the death of Holika, the devil. The next morning, men, women, and children, young and old, strangers and friends, color one another with dried powder from head to toe, and share food, song, and dance in the streets.
