The trend of residential segregation by ethnicity in the United States is well-documented. Some may be less familiar with the situation as regards residential segregation by income, but this report from the Pew Research Center is quite revealing. Written by Richard Fry and Paul Taylor, this report was released in August 2012. It includes four chapters and an appendix. The report notes that residential segregation by income has increased during the past three decades across the United States and in 27 of the nation's 30 largest major metropolitan areas.
