As a secular saint of Tin Pan Alley, Hoagy Carmichael looms large in the world of American popular song. As a native Hoosier, Carmichael graduated from the Indiana University School of Law and went on to write hundreds of standards, including "Star Dust" and "Two Sleepy People". This digital tribute and archive to his work was created by staff members at the Indiana University Library. On the site's homepage, visitors can read a brief introduction about Carmichael and the digitization project. Next, the "Browse" section will give visitors access to photographs, correspondence, typescripts, publicity, and personal effects from the collection. The "Lyric Sheets" area shouldn't be missed as visitors can look at the music for "Always", "Air pollution blues", and several hundred other ditties. The "Photographs" area includes portraits of Carmichael as a young man and during his time on the Movie Time USA tour in the 1940s.
