The Chesapeake Bay watershed extends over six states, and all told, some 27 million residents live in the area covered by the watershed. The University of Virginia has a keen interest in the watershed area, and this website provides information about their sustainability simulation project which is designed to look at the long and short term future of this particular ecosystem. The simulation allows players "to take the roles of stakeholders, such as farmers, local policy-makers, watermen, and developers, make decisions about their livelihoods and professional expertise, and see the impacts of these decisions on the watershed and on each other over a twenty-year period." The website provides information about the simulation, along with materials on the different simulation events and the participating groups.
