This site hosts the US Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) preliminary data file for the survey "Salaries, Tenure, and Fringe Benefits of Full-Time Instructional Faculty" for academic year 1996-97, part of the 1995 Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). "The file includes the following data by institution: number of full-time instructional faculty, total salary outlays, and number of tenured faculty, by contract length (9- or 12-month), sex, and academic rank. The file also includes fringe benefit expenditures and number of faculty covered, by length of contract and type of benefit." The data are available in compressed .zip format.
