Negro League Baseball

The term "Negro Leagues" is generally regarded as encompassing the hundreds of professional, African-American baseball teams operating between 1880 and 1955, many of which were not affiliated with any formal league. This site seeks to document the history of the Negro Leagues online. Sponsored by Moxie Web, it is divided into three principal sections: History, Teams, and Players. The History section contains a number of selected articles from the now-defunct journal Black Ball News. The Teams contains varying amounts of information on teams. The Players section features brief biographies of prominent players.
