Formed in 1991, the mission of CWSE is to increase participation of women in careers in the sciences and engineering. The Committee is involved in conducting research and disseminating current data on the participation of women in these fields, and in monitoring the progress of these efforts. Edited by Linda Skidmore, the CWSE Directory of Organizations Encouraging Women in Science and Engineering is the principle product of the group's efforts so far and contains lists organized by name, acronym, and discipline along with a list of related organizations.
