Astrogeology Research Program

This site illustrates the USGS's research in astrogeology, which is "the science devoted to studying the origin, composition, structure, and history of the planets and their moons." Geologists will find information about the technologies, programs, and projects including the Planetary Geologic Mapping Program and the Lunar Pyroclastic Volcanism project. The site also provides scientists with the latest news in planetary science and remote sensing. Educators and students can take advantage of the abundant information dealing with characteristics of each of the planets, as well as their satellites. GIS users can find data sets and tutorials. Amazing images of the earth and other planets in our solar system are abundant throughout the site.
