Created in 1982, the Bay Area Television Archive is housed in the San Francisco State University J. Paul Leonard Library’s Department of Special Collections. The Archive preserves over 4,000 hours of newsfilm, documentaries and other programs produced around the Bay Area from 1939 to 2005. Internet Archive: TV News

The Internet Archive has created this very ambitious project to bring together over 371,000 news broadcasts of various origins since 2009. Students of communications, media, and related fields will find much to revel in here. Visitors can search all of the captions from each program on the homepage or look at the Recent Extracted Topics word cloud. Not surprisingly, some of the popular words here...

Television Archive: A Library of World Perspectives Concerning September 11, 2000

Some of the newest resources on the Web are archive sites, that is sites that collect previously distributed media (see the July 13, 2001 Scout Report for discussion of an Election 2000 archive). Two such Websites have compiled information on the September 11, 2001 tragedies. Vanderbilt Television News Archive

The Television News Archive began at Vanderbilt University on August 5, 1968 because television news was not consistently recorded, preserved and made accessible for research anywhere. After a quarter century, the Archive remains unique in systematically recording, abstracting and indexing the most widely viewed national television newscasts so that they are readily available for study.
