This report, Teachers' Tools for the 21st Century: A Report on Teachers' Use of Technology, "uses multiple data sources to describe teachers' use of education technology in their classrooms and schools." It examines the availability of computer and Internet technology in the classroom, teacher training and preparation for using such technology, and the barriers that teachers encounter to its use. Key findings of the report include the fact that approximately half of the public school teachers who had access to computers or the Internet used them for classroom instruction and that the most frequently reported barriers to instructional use of computers were "not enough computers (78 percent), lack of release time for teachers to learn how to use computers or the Internet (82 percent), and lack of time in schedule for students to use computers in class (80 percent).
