The Global Jet Watch Project was founded at the University of Oxford in order to explore fascinating questions about the universe. For instance, how does matter behave in the vicinity of black holes in our galaxy? What is striking about the project is the use of five 0.5 meter telescopes which have been strategically placed around the globe - in Chile, Eastern and Western Australia, India, and South Africa - so that at least one of the telescopes is taking nighttime observations at any given time. On the homepage, readers can select Telescopes to learn about the five different observatories. The Spectrographs section explains how the observed light is split up into separate colors for analysis. There is also a fascinating News section, with highlights from the sites, data analysis, and information on the boarding schools that host the telescopes.
