A joint effort of the Solar Oscillations Investigations (SOI) at Stanford University and the Lockheed-Martin Advanced Technology Center, the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) is aboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft and assists in collecting data of the interior structure and dynamics of the sun.
