HIGP: Hawai'i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology

The Hawai'i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology's (HIGP) mission is "to solve fundamental problems in Earth and Planetary Science by the application and development of state-of-the-art exploration, measurement, and analysis technologies." This expansive Web site provides illustrations for a variety of research in subjects including High Pressure Mineral Physics, Volcanology, and Paleomagnetism. Students and educators can learn how remote sensing instruments are used to better understand basaltic flows. Potential graduate students can discover opportunities in research dealing with infrared spectroscopy, satellite examinations of volcanoes, and much more.
