Created by Professor Al Filreis as an accompaniment to his course at the University of Pennsylvania, this site is valuable both as a teaching resource and as an excellent collection of 1950s literature and iconography. Filreis's wide-ranging assortment of readings from the 1950s, arranged alphabetically, is an excellent peek into the culture and mentality of the period. Users can view election reports, contemporary fiction and reviews, synopsis of anti-Communist films, information on the Hollywood Black List, and much more. Multimedia resources at this site include poster and photo images and links to contemporary newsreels.
