UMass News and Events

UMASS News & Events

Four days of special events are on tap as the UMass Amherst community will celebrate the Class of 2024 with a series of Commencement and senior recognition ceremonies through Sunday, May 19.

No matter their endeavor, each of the dozen creators in this year’s Senior Series embodies UMass Amherst's revolutionary spirit, pursuit of progress, and unwavering commitment to the greater good.

Since 1961, the University of Massachusetts has presented the Distinguished Teaching Award – the only student-initiated award on campus – to instructors who demonstrate exemplary teaching at the highest institutional level.

Award-winning research led by UMass Amherst shows that to be successful, guide-dog users and trainers need to provide insight into features that make robotic helpers useful in the real world.

We gather and promote newsworthy developments about the achievements of faculty, staff and students; the university's programs and policies; research discoveries; and community outreach efforts.

Our team provides a variety of services: news releases, social media, video, photography, Inside UMass newsletter, crisis communication and reputation management, promotion of faculty expertise, and interview preparation. We are part of University Relations, which promotes UMass Amherst to all our varied audiences, both internal and external.
