Created in 1982, the Bay Area Television Archive is housed in the San Francisco State University J. Paul Leonard Library’s Department of Special Collections. The Archive preserves over 4,000 hours of newsfilm, documentaries and other programs produced around the Bay Area from 1939 to 2005. This online archive contains just five films, but they are all gems. The first is a a clip of Marlon Brando and Black Panthers at a funeral in 1968 and other items include a conversation with Harvey Milk and an excerpt from the series "Blacks, Blues, Blacks.” This particular vignette features Maya Angelou interviewing political activists and community members on the streets of Watts in Los Angeles.
