This report from the Pew Research Center examines how well American adults understand a range of digital technology topics. The results of the study were rather mixed, revealing generally strong knowledge in some areas (e.g., phishing, cookies, ads) but glaring gaps in others. For example, less than 30 percent of respondents accurately answered questions about private browsers or 2-factor authentication. The study's results also highlighted considerable group-level variation, as people under 50 and with higher educational attainment tended to be more knowledgeable about digital topics.
