Philosophy For Beginners

Philosophy For Beginners

This is the series for you if you are a complete beginner to philosophy. It is an introduction to the main areas of philosophy, to the philosophical method, and to some of the sub-disciplines of philosophy. It was the first podcast series I made (in Michaelmas Term 2008). It made global number one on iTunesU in August 2009.

There are five lectures. Each of them is available in audio or video. There is also a reading list.

Here are the podcasts. I do hope you enjoy them!

    Hello prof,
May I request from you kindly to suggest any detailed introduction books in philosophy?

Hi Sid, I would try Simon Blackburn’s Think:A Compelling Introduction To Philosophy, and a very old one: Bertrand Russell’s The Problems of Philosophy. Good luck! Marianne
