Norwich has a long history. It has been a city since 1094. From the Middle Ages until the Industrial Revolution, Norwich was the largest city in England after London and one of the most important. This is refelected in its plaques.

The Church of St. Olave. This Saxon church, the oldest occupied building in Chichester, was built around 1050. It contains evidence of late 11th century work & was partly rebuilt in the late 13th & early 14th century. It is one of several churches dedicated to St. Olave or Olaf. King Olaf Haraldsson, patron Saint of Norway, lived from 995-1030 & was canonised in 1164.
